Currency Information on Croatian Kuna - HRK— Croatian kuna – kn
Since 1994, the kuna has been the official currency of Croatia; it is subdivided into 100 lipa, meaning “linden tree”, or “lime tree”. ‘Kuna’ means ‘marten’ and is named such due to the use of marten pelts as trading currency in medieval times.
1 and 2 lipa and 25 kuna coins are rarely used in Croatia, whilst denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 lipa, and 1, 2 and 5 kuna coins are available and in circulation.
Frequently used banknotes are available in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 kuna, whilst 500 and 1,000 kuna notes are used infrequently.
