Currency Information on Djiboutian Franc - DJF— Djiboutian franc – Fdj

Subdivided into 100 centimes, the Djiboutian franc is the main currency of Djibouti. Originally, Djibouti used the French franc, but in 1949, the Djiboutian currency was independently pegged to the USD at a ratio of 1 dollar = 214.392 francs. In 1973, this rate was revalued to 177.721 franc = 1 dollar, and has remained the same since.

There are no denominations of centimes in circulation, however, coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250 and 500 francs are available, and banknotes in denominations of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 francs are in circulation and used frequently.
