Currency Information on Guyanese Dollar - GYD — Guyanese dollar – G$

Originally designed to assist with the transition from the Dutch guilder to pound sterling, the Guyanese dollar was introduced in 1839. The ‘G’ prefaces the dollar symbol to differentiate it from other dollar currencies.

Denominations of 1, 5 and 10 dollars are available in coins, and 20, 100, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 in banknotes.
