Currency Information on Libyan Dinar - LYD — Libyan dinar - ل.د or LD

The official currency of Libya, the dinar, is divided into 1000 dirham. Its introduction in 1971 replaced the pound at a 1:1 ratio.

The government are currently taking submissions for designs to replace the image of Gaddafi on their banknotes.

Coins currently in circulation are 50 and 100 dirhams and ¼, ½ dinar. Banknotes in circulation include 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dinars.
