Currency Information on Myanmar Kyat - MMK—Burmese kyat – K

The Kyat replaced the rupee at a 1:1 ratio in 1952. This was the third incarnation of the kyat, with the fist being introduced in 1852, until being replaced by the Indian rupee in 1889, and the second being introduced in 1943, and replaced in 1945 by the Burmese rupee.

Coins in circulation are available in denominations of K1, K5, K10, K50 and K100, whilst banknotes in circulation are available in denominations of 50 pyas, K1, K5, K10, K20, K50, K100, K200, K500, K1000, K5000 and K10,000.
