Currency Information on Syrian Pound - SYP – Syrian pound - £S or LS

The Syrian pound was pegged to the French franc, until 1941, when Syria was occupied by British and French forces; it was replaced with a peg to the British pound at 8.83125:1.

The Syrian pound was reissued in 2009 and new notes were printed, designed by Robert Kalina.

Coins in denominations of 1, 2, 3, 10 and 25 pounds are available, along with notes in denominations of 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pounds.
