Currency Information on Vietnamese Dong - VND – Vietnamese dong - ₫

The dong was introduced in 1978, it has previously subdivided into hao and xu, but now has no subdivisions. The dong has been revalued twice, at a rate of 100:1 in 1951, and at a rate of 1000:1 in 1958.

Coins are available in denominations of 200₫, 500₫, 1000₫ and2000₫, a 5000 dong coin was issued but is no longer used.

Banknotes in denominations of 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, 100,000, 200,000 and 500,000 are in circulation, with the 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 being old-issue notes, which are still used.
